The Aerocharribang is the alias of the musician Benoît Gisler, when he’s composing for any visual project. He has worked on films, theater plays, puppet theater, readings, fashion shows, art installation, interactive performances or dance.

Benoît Gisler was born in Basel in 1982. In 2011 he completed his professional studies at the Swiss Jazz School (Bern) and the ZHdK (Zürich) with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Guitar and a Master’s degree in Composition & Arrangements (Music for Film, Theatre and Media).
 
He is active in various formations ranging from rock to noisy improvised music via children’s music, jazz or transdisciplinary projects. He also composes for films, theatre plays, puppet theatre, readings, fashion shows, art installations, interactive performances or dance.

He has worked with numerous directors (Hynek Bures, Matthias Cuciniello, Mathias Truniger, Kathrin Frey, Mark Olexa, Annie Gisler, Jane Mumford) and has collaborated several times with the Compagnie Boréale or Anne Dumas.
 
He sings and plays contrabass, piano, trumpet, drums, but his main instrument is the guitar. Fascinated by guitarists such as Fred Frith, he is strongly attracted to any manipulation that transforms his electric guitar into strange sounds…
 
He’s also self-taught in visual arts (Comics, graphic arts, animation, super8, Silk-screen printing, photography, sewing, linocut, …) and has directed a few short films. His first mid-length film «The Department of Misfortunes», is an interactive animation movie, with live music.
